IDEA due process hearings are the primary vehicle for resolving disputes between parents and districts concerning identification, evaluation, placement or the provision of FAPE to students with disabilities. In this third session of the Special Education 101 four-part track, we will look in-depth at “process of due process” from the filing of the complaint to the resolution meeting to the actual hearing before OAH. Along the way, we discuss witness preparation, settlement offers, mediation, appeals and other issues important to every special education administrator. We will also cover potential remedies for IDEA noncompliance.
