Why use IEP facilitation in every IEP meeting? It saves districts money and time. Complaints and due process decrease because meeting collaboration increases. IEP meeting facilitation builds and improves relationships between team members and most importantly, keeps the meeting content and process focused on the student. We will look at the art form of facilitation mixed with the research-based tools, showing how facilitation can be used in all meetings. We will provide information regarding proactive strategies to support IEP’s that improve communications, improve the efficiency of the meeting and result in less conflict. Participants will leave with specific strategies that districts can implement right away. In addition, we will share data related to complaints and due process from a SELPA in California where they have been using facilitation in every IEP meeting.
