Para-educators play an important role in the education of students with disabilities. It is critical that para-educators are included in the team communication loop, trained in providing research-based adaptions, and coached for effectively supporting students with disabilities across school settings. By proactively providing information and tools for para-educators focusing on the broad special education process, roles and responsibilities, and implementation of individualized adaptions, student outcomes will increase while legal compliance issues decrease.
