Salinas Union High School District & MBCUE
Assistant Principal/Director
Salinas, CA
For the past sixteen years, I have been an educator at the secondary level. I began my career with the Salinas Union High School District as a teacher on special assignment with the California Healthy Start program. I moved into the classroom at Alisal High School as a Spanish teacher. I later became a migrant resource teacher before moving over to Salinas High School as the English Learner Specialist . For the past four years, I have been an assistant principal. Some of my duties at Salinas high school include overseeing the operations Agricultural Education, Vocational Education and the Special Education program. My primary focus has been in the area of integrating under-resourced students into career readiness opportunities that exist within my school and district, and to partner with the community to secure access to enriching career awareness. In my role with the Agricultural Education, I have invigorated horticulture, Ag mechanics and Ag biology. I look forward to increasing students opportunities for college and career readiness in the beginning of their high school experience as a means of enlightening them to meaningful career pathways. With education having a strong focus on college and career readiness, I am poised to take on additional mentoring in the vocational education.
